Target Corporation October Sales Up 9.1 Percent
MINNEAPOLIS, Nov. 2 /PRNewswire/ --- Target Corporation (NYSE: TGT) today reported that its net retail sales for the four weeks ended October 28, 2000 increased 9.1 percent to $2.639 billion from $2.420 billion a year ago. Comparable-store sales increased 3.5 percent from the same period a year ago.
"Sales for the Corporation were slightly better than plan during October, driven by stronger-than-expected sales at Mervyn's. Sales at Target were essentially on plan for the month, while sales at our Department Stores were below plan in October," said Bob Ulrich, chairman and chief executive officer of Target Corporation.
